Does Blueridge offer a twelve string? |
Lead | |
|
I currently own a BR-140 and I love it. My friend owned one of the more pricey models and it was great also so Blueridge has become my brand of choice for
acoustic guitars but I am in the market for a twelve string now and I have never seen a blueridge one. Does the company even make one? If so could someone
help me out with some info about them,

Not to my knowledge presently. They did make a few 12-string dreads back in the 80's I believe, but they are very rare, and hard to find. My recommendation
would be to go with either a Guild or Taylor 12-string, if you can. Even the GAD (Asian-made) Guild 12's are decent sounding. Depending on what price range
you are interested in, you will find all kinds of recommendations. I believe that Recording King is coming out with a 12-string Dreadnaught now.

If you can find a Crafter 12 string, give it a try.
I have one and love it. It sounds and plays better than a Yamaha 12 string in the same price range. It also plays much easier than the Guild 12 strings that I have owned in the past. |

One of our forum members bought a Crafter 12 string some months back that he says is a nice one. To my knowledge none offered at this point from Blueridge,
Recording King or Stanford. Not sure about Eastman......
Oops Haha.... TMG posted the same time as I did about his Crafter.

We know less about these older Blueridges than we do about the new ones. Is this one available for purchase? I'd want to see what shape the bridge and top
is in if it's pretty old. Could be tough to play if there's any bellying. Then again if it's pretty inexpensive it might be well worth checking
out. Tonally those older Blueridges may not have sounded as good as the new ones because they were likely made quite differently. Could be hit or miss.....

Used 12 string guitars sort of scare me unless I can actually put my hands on them first.
I guess I've seen too many older 12 stringers that needed a lot of work. I think the 12 strings almost ensure neck resets are due at a premature age in comparison to 6 strings. I have not priced out the Recording King Greg offered but IMO, getting one new with warranty is your safest bet. Of course, if you can really inspect the BR-12 beforehand (hands on) it may or may not be a good buy. |

I would love to get my hands on that Recording King 12 string. I checked their website but don't see any 12's available. Any idea when these are coming
out?
