STANFORD dread mp3 Clips: Which has new strings? (PSD-20,21 &28) |
Lead | |
|
I started messing around with recording and uploading mp3s over the weekend. These clips were recorded with a single condenser mic into my Fostex digital 8
track recorder. Rather than have you try to guess which is the EIR PSD-20, "Hog" PSD-21 and EIR PSD-28 see if you can guess which has new (2 day old)
strings on it. The 3 clips are here. Click on the speaker icons
to play each. Sorry that this website doesn't have the best playback features. My Soundclick page hasn't been working.....
.
BTW Each clip is a bit over 1 minute in length.

However it's bigger sounding to my ears (in person) that the PSD-20. IMO the PSD-20 is the best candidate for recording as it seems less boomy than the other 2. Perhaps a bit better balanced. The 28 is a beast!

they ALL sound great, Ryan... very nice, clean playing and recording. I think the 20 has the new strings... and of course, I think the 21 sounds the best...

I love "hog"; but I liked the 28 best of the three clips. At least today.... maybe tomorrow It will sound different to me!

I'm a rosewood guy, but I thought that the 21 sounded the best. I know Ryan has a penchant for tuning down a half step, so I'm curious which if any
are tuned down a half step? To my ears, relative to my PSRD-28, the PSD-28 sounds tuned down, although it could be that mine is a slope dread.

I'd say the PSD-28 has the new ones.

I say that the PSD-21 has the new strings. I'd be willing to bet Pappy's Eastman on it!

C'mon, guys! I must know Ryan better than any of you. None of the guitars has new strings!
You forget it and I'll forget it, but I'll remember it, and don't you forget it!

out of my Nanos . Just kidding.
