Some that I tried to upload (the whole body) would not work and I don't know why. However, perhaps now the pics will help to determine more about this guitar and what it may be worth. Thr BR guitars built back then were ply sides and back if I understand correctly. You can get a new BR-60 that would be very close to the one in your pictures for around $475.00 new. I don't know what the used one would be worth. Good luck with your quest, TMG.

If I remember right a forum member contacted SAGA awhile back, and they courteously sent him info on his older model BR. I dont remember which model his was but it was several years old (as is yours). Give it a shot! That may be your best bet unless someone stumbles across your thread who owns or owned a BR-85..... I'd hazard a guess that it is one of the more valuable "vintage" Blueridges, meaning pre-2001. You forget it and I'll forget it, but I'll remember it, and don't you forget it!

Posts: 4 (10/12/08 03:53 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	I've found only one internet site that mentioned this guitar and according to that site, the guitar was made during the years 1990-1992. Solid top, mother-of-pearl rosette, harring bone binding, rosewood back and sides. The big thing though is how is there any way of knowing if the back and sides are solid or laminate? I've not found anyone that can tell me for sure. I've even called SAGA several times and they say that they don't know the model. One person thought that by the description it may have been a prototype of high quality construction using solid woods. It would be nice to know for sure, though.

Look at the grain on the outside of the back and find a distinct pattern or grain line. Look inside and see if you can see the same pattern. If the inside is obviously different from the outside, you will know it's laminated. Let us know what you find out, TMG

There are definitely ways to figure out on your own (or with a luthier's help) if it's solid or not by looking it over carefully. Sounds like a Neat guitar! Maybe it is Rare..... I just bought a Blueridge BR-85-12 (12 strings) in a local market: the guitar is just LIKE NEW :-). I can't tell you anything else for the moment because I don't have it at my home yet (within 2 weeks). I know that the seller bought it 4 years ago in a music store for $1350 without the case. I am also very curious about the wood used . The fingerboard is ebony, solid top,....but back and side I still have to investigate. @RoryBlues: did you find out about yours? I saw the pictures and the label, rosette,...looks like the one I just bought....for a good deal (I think :-)). I also will post some pictures a.s.a.p. I hope to find out more about it.... The BR-85 is completly made of solid wood. The "pattern/grain line check" also let me state this. De sound is just INCREDIBLE!....I think its a great BIG guitar :-). This is a "made in Japan" guitar. I wish to know more about this model, but for the moment I will enjoy playing it. I uploaded some picture if you wish to have a look. Cheers Rick
